Nano-diamonds in proto-planetary discs

چکیده
Context. Nano-diamonds remain an intriguing component of the dust in few sources where they have been observed emission. Aims. This work focusses on nano-diamonds circumstellar discs and is attempt to derive critical information about their possible sizes, compositions, evolution using a recently derived set optical constants. Methods. The complex indices refraction properties (the efficiency factors Q ext , sca abs pr ) were used determine temperatures, lifetimes, drift velocities as function radii (0.5–100 nm), composition (surface hydrogenation irradiated states), distance from central stars regions. Results. nano-diamond temperature profiles determined for HR 4049, Elias 1, HD 97048 optically thin limit. results indicate that large ( = 30–100 nm) are hottest therefore least resistant inner disc regions (~10–50 AU), while small < 10 fully hydrogenated significantly cooler these same We discuss within context formation discs. Conclusions. Large nano-diamonds, being hottest, most affected by stellar radiation field; however, effects pressure appear be insufficient move them out harm’s way. best survive shine proto-planetary then seemingly hydrogenated, close size pre-solar (〈 〉 ≃ 1.4 nm). Nevertheless, it does not yet reconcile existence with short lifetimes such

Observational evidence for dust growth in proto-planetary discs
The dust in the interstellar medium, that provides the material for forming stars and circumstellar discs as a natural by-product is known to have submicron sizes. As these discs are the sites of planet formation, those small grains are predicted to grow to larger entities when the stars are still young. I will review evidence for the first steps in grain growth in proto-planetary discs around ...
متن کاملThe Vertical Structure of Planet-induced Gaps in Proto-Planetary Discs
Giant planets embedded in circumstellar discs are expected to open gaps in these discs. We examine the vertical structure of the gap edges. We find that the planet excites spiral arms with significant (Mach number of a half) vertical motion of the gas, and discuss the implications of these motions. In particular, the spiral arms will induce strong vertical stirring of the dust, making the edge ...
متن کاملDiscs and Planetary Formation
The formation, structure and evolution of protoplanetary discs is considered. The formation of giant planets within the environment of these models is also discussed.
متن کاملProperties of Proto–Planetary Nebulae
This review describes some general properites of proto-planetary nebulae with particular emphasis on the recent work of morpholgical studies. The weight of observational evidence shows that proto-planetary nebulae (PPNe) are most certainly axisymmetric like planetary nebulae. Recent work suggests two subclasses of PPNe optical morphology, DUst-Prominent Longitudinally-EXtended (DUPLEX) and Star...
متن کاملJets and Tori in Proto-Planetary Nebulae
We investigate the time sequence for the appearance of jets and molecular tori in the transition of stars from the Asymptotic Giant Branch to the planetary nebula phase. Jets and tori are prominent features of this evolution, but their origins are uncertain. Using optical and millimeter line kinematics, we determine the ejection history in a sample of well-observed cases. We find that jets and ...
